2016 Race Year Review

Sometimes Excel is stupid so the formats aren't all consistent... enjoy!

The races might be hinting toward alcoholism… as finisher awards, I received two cups of beer, a breacher (bottle opener), and a pint glass.

Wearing pink and doing that with my arm? Hmmm...
I gained 8 new pieces of Patagonia wear. Holiday Lake 50k finisher long-sleeve shirt, Terrapin finisher tank top, Dam 50k finisher t-shirt, Promise Land finisher running shorts (I bought another pair at discount), Mountain Masochist finisher long-sleeve shirt, Trucker Cap during Mountain Masochist raffle, NanoPuff LUS finisher jacket. Thank you, Drs. Horton and Zealand!

Me with the legend himself, Dr. Horton (D-Ho)

Other finisher/volunteer stuff: 3 pairs of wool socks, 1 mug, 3 hats, 1 jar of jam, 1 hooded long-sleeve shirt, 2 jackets, 1 discounted race entries, 1 free race entry, $55 cash (guess I can’t count the Spartan as volunteering since I got paid…), 8th and 9th Tough Mudder headbands (5th finish), Way too many cotton shirts and drawstring bags, 1 camo race bib, 3 non-bib timing chips, 1 knockoff buff, 1 blanket, 1 free Kings Island ticket (you’re welcome, Jeremy Mangold), 1 team victory (Peaks of Otter Christmas Classic)

Some of the male LUS finishers. Steve with his special jacket!
BRTR Team (minus Kevin)
Figured out that I REALLY like chocolate during races (who knew I had a sweet tooth??), I tolerate Tailwynd, I loathe fruit flavored gels and fruit gummies, hot food in general is awesome, and I always can go for a swig of pickle juice

Iron Mountain 30-miler finish

Most of the time I’ll be wearing something on my head… winter hat, headband, cap, or buff. Might get some bandanas to try for next year.

First Ultra/Race of the Year: Holliday Lake 50k
Always with the hat, this time at Promise Land.
Ran the entire year in the same pair of Saucony shoes… they’ll be retired when I get my new shoes

Bring on 2017!
